Laura immediately jumped in and attacked, determined to make up for her poor display before. She moved like a viper, sinking claws into men as she twirled around in a dangerous dance. Logan would be impressed. He would see that she was good enough to have around and could follow orders. No killing, no killing, it was a chant in her thoughts every time she struck a blow. Inches away from an important artery, millimeters away from the heart, all as exacting as a surgeon. She couldn’t afford to make mistakes.
But she spun too fast and a guard moved into it. She sliced through his neck with her toe talon and blood spattered her face. She stopped, eyes wide in surprise and foot still in the air, holding him up as he died. He slid off but she remained still a second longer, then looked around fearfully. Immediately she retracted her foot blade and moved on, because just because she had failed didn’t mean there weren’t still people coming out of the woodwork. And she still had a job to do, even if one aspect of it was now a moot point.
Boom-Boom couldn’t help but feel a little proud of herself, and her team. They made Logan smile, Logan. Smile. Only a little but—Logan smiled. It felt like a victory in itself. Tabitha could literally feel every muscle in her body relax when she heard Rahne was found, and alive. Mission accomplished, almost. Rahne was safe, John to boot. All they had to do was find Ramona, and they could go home. Tabitha was already planning what she was going to do once they got home. She was going to spend all day in her bedroom with Wanda. She was going to plan her song and dance routine with Ramona, the one they were going to perform at the produce section of Wal-mart. She was going to go on the worlds biggest shopping spree to buy gifts for Rahne and Laura, and when Rahne was 100% healed, she was going to cling to the little red wolf like there was no tomorrow.
Alright, let’s go. One more time. Tabitha followed Logan around the corner, to the mess hall. She could feel her energy collecting in her hands, her time bombs were going to be brimming with explosive energy. She charged forward, igniting her blow torch like flames as soldiers approached. As soon as the tip of the flame came in contact with skin the entire string of flame combusted violently. It was then that she saw Laura, who was frozen, and the corpse beside her. Laura! Tabitha ran to Laura, firing her torches silently, left and right. She stopped, three feet away from Laura, keeping her distance, but having Laura’s back, like they had discussed the day prior.
Megan was automatically relieved when she heard that Rahne and John were safe. It didn’t make her feel better that Ramona was still in the clutches of that monster, but they were going to keep going until they got her and could finally go home. She smiled inwardly, she hadn’t felt this close to people in a long time. And, being with the team as Logan told them all how they had all done well, made her feel like she was accepted—despite her insanity.
Everyone sprang into action when they got to the mess hall. At first, Megan struggled trying to bring the dagger back. But, the more she thought about Ramona, and the more she felt that failure was not acceptable (Also, the more that these soldiers were pissing her off.), it drained the bit of soul down through her arm and appeared again as the dagger. And, she stabbed and fought as hard as she could with the help of her team. She could not stop to hesitate, hesitation made you dead. And, she could not risk another blow. She had taken them down rather quickly, although Tabby’s blasts had made their number decrease. They weren’t too far from their goal. We just have to keep moving forward and we’ll all be safe. Pixie could only hope.
Out of the corner of his eye, the old mutant saw what his clone had done. Well fuck. At least it wasn’t on purpose. We’ll talk about it later, right now, we need to keep moving.
"Yer fine, let’s go,” came a barked order in that split second of hesitation, and as she geared back up and kept on mark, he was rather pleased that she did, in fact, follow orders so well.
And, of course, that she was so talented in the art of war. Even if it bothered him that she was a weapon, trained and put together to murder, Logan had to admit at least to himself that she was very good at what she was made to do.
In a crackling tone, Forge’s loud voice rang clear; they had everyone, it was time to retreat. Fucking finally.
As Pixie and Boom-boom took out the last of the majority of the guards, his own voice piped up, and he stopped dead, waving them back towards the entrance. “Time ta’ go home, girls! Mission accomplished,” if with several minor hitches. Hey, shit happens. Xavier’s going to bitch like a little girl, but oh fucking well. Nothing was on purpose by my girls. Ain’t like they’re bloodthirsty fucking animals.
Shit. Fucking. Happens.
He made his way towards the opening in the room, head turned back as he waited for the others to start moving forwards. Logan always preferred to be the last one out in this situation; any guards that came out of the grain would have HIM to go through that way… and he was about as hard to go through as a rock.
